Find and Delete Duplicate Photos in Photomyne

Photomyne brings those old photos of your childhood back to life which are the more treasured part of your early days. It is available for both Android and iOS and transforms old photos into digital shape at a single tap. It is extremely flexible and makes the whole job super easy for the user.

Spare a thought about duplicate photos before you proceed. You and your siblings might have a huge collection of exact and/or similar photos of the same family vacation. Why would you want duplicates or near-duplicates of the same image? Of course you won’t. But you don’t have to do the duplicate image sorting out job on your own. PictureEcho will do it all with speed, courtesy of its smart architecture.

Once the photos have been saved, you can create an album, and do apply filters to photos, create a whole presentation, add up metadata, and not to forget, share the photos with others via email, social media, etc.

And the biggest of all, Photomyne account holders get unlimited cloud access to back up and share their photos. This helps to bail them out if their phone gets killed by a virus, or worse gets stolen. Photomyne offers so much more to its users on a very nominal price. It is these generous offerings that have made Photomyne an extremely popular app, even though it was just rolled out a few years back.

And oh yes, Photomyne contains a unique feature in the shape of Discover, a visual history feed that lets users share the most cherished moments with Photomyne users around the world. Browsing Discover makes for a very pleasing and enjoyable experience.

Photomyne can be accessed from a smartphone, tablet or even through a computer/laptop. It is an absolute treasure for photo geeks and offers a whole range of possibilities for the users to make use of.

The Twist

Today’s high tech smartphones, as well as DSLR devices, have meant people can happily obtain high definition and even ultra-high definition images of a moment they simply can’t afford to miss out on, within seconds. However, as it always happens, every good thing comes with a price.

A selfie session might cause the user to capture several photos in quick succession. The same can be said about the plenty of random images you capture of your newborn every single day, and even if you want to flaunt your athletic prowess by capturing a ton of images while ascending that mountain which not many can even think of.

When people find capturing images that easy, they start doing so on a more frequent basis. This leads to the images piling up really quickly. The user keeps on adding up images here and there without sparing a thought for the clutter they are creating on their Photomyne cloud storage. What now?

So how do we get rid of this mess? Well, you’ve come to the right place. And you’re extremely lucky because cleaning up the mess is much easier than creating it. Can you believe what you’re reading? Yes, you better! Can we explain all of this in some detail without burdening you with too much info? Of course, so let’s get going.

The Fix

So you’ve got a whole lot of photos on the Photomyne folder in your computer and you want to clean up the clutter. First, you must be looking to get rid of all the duplicates (exact photos) that are of course no good to you. Allow us to add another (and far bigger dimension) to this. How about getting rid of similar pictures? These are photos that are very similar, yet they can’t be termed as duplicates.

But these photos are causing a great deal of trouble because of the clutter they are being a part of, and lead to disorganization. Also, looking for a particular photo can be a real pain when you have to scroll through thousands of photos. So why not run a scan and see if we can weed out photos that are strikingly similar to each other.

The solution lies in PictureEcho. As the name implies, the software looks for images that echo (are similar to each other just like the echo waves), and then kills them easily. And once you’re done with the scan, you can sit assured of the clutter being cleared up for good.

So first head to the website of PictureEcho and download it. Once you’re done with the installation, here are the simple steps you have to follow.

  1. Click the Add Path button to add the local folder of Photomyne for the scan.

  2. On the far end of the header, the Exact Match and Similar Match options will be located. Select the scan mode of your choice, and click the Similarity Settings link if you want to scan for similar images.
  3. The Settings window will allow you to choose between 4 types of Similar Scan. Select the option which suits you the most, although Level 3 is the most frequently used one.

  4. Click the Show Preview checkbox and then click Start Search to launch the scan.

  5. Wait for PictureEcho to do the job, and the results will be out pretty soon.
  6. The scan results will be divided into groups, with each group comprising of the images related to a single image. The footer of the software interface will be showing up handy information about the scan results.

  7. Now comes the stage of selecting the photos. You can either select them manually by through a checkbox right next to each image, or click the Select Duplicates button to choose a criterion which will be used to select the images, and that will happen instantly.

  8. The final step in Photomyne duplicate photos cleanup is to click the Select Action button and choose between Permanent Delete and Move to Folder (if you want to move the duplicates to a folder).
  9. That’s it, the job is done. As soon as the duplicates disappear from the local Photomyne folder, the changes will be synced to the cloud and the duplicates will be swept clean from the cloud as well.

Note: If you think you’ve mistakenly performed the Move to Folder action on some photos, you can undo it by clicking the Restore button for the corresponding scan in the History section.
Cleaning up duplicate photos is as simple as this. The whole process is simple, swift and highly comprehensive.
