Step by Step Instructions to Change Picture of the Artist

There are quite a lot of people who are not happy with the images Groove Music provides for artist images, artist banners and live tiles etc. The good news is that Groove Music stores all these images locally on your computer, so that you can easily change them as and when required. In case you are not satisfied by the artist images Groove Music uses for your songs, the following lines guide you on how you can change the artist image. The procedure is a bit lengthy, but luckily it is quite straightforward. You will be requiring a few software programs to begin with. These include Photoshop CC and Command Prompt.

  • Step 1

Even though the image files are stored locally by Groove Music, they are hidden files by default. So until and unless you are able to view them, you would not be able to change them. Therefore first of all you need to ensure that you have enabled the option to view hidden folders. In order to do this, you need to open the start menu and search for Folder Explorer Options. Click it and now click the View tab. Select the radio box for Show hidden files, folders and drives and then click OK.

  • Step 2

Now that you have enabled the option to view hidden files, for your second step you need to navigate to the address where the image files are stored. Open up the File Explorer and enter the following address:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.ZuneMusic_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\ImageCache\20

  • Step 3

For this step you will have to create the backup of all the image files. You can do this by copying and pasting them in another folder. This way you will ensure that in case you accidently delete or corrupt an image, the original file will still be there and you can restore it.

  • Step 4

Once you have backed up all the image files, return to the original folder. Here you will find files without any file extension. Using a bulk file renamer, add the .jpg extension to all the image files.

  • Step 5

Now select the image you want to edit or replace and open it in Photoshop CC. Make the appropriate changes while ensuring that the name and dimensions of the file remain unchanged.

  • Step 6

Once you have made changes to the required files, you need to rename all files and remove the .jpg file extension. This process will be similar to step # 4.

  • Step 7

Finally, what you need to perform the same set of steps in another folder whose address is as follows:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.ZuneMusic_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\ImageStore
