GTA V Stuttering Fixes for Windows 10

GTA V is a highly addicted open world game. It was released in 2014 and has become one of the most popular console games. Most users now play GTA V in multiplayer mode because of the number of mods and levels available for it. It was replaced by GTA 6, but as it became a huge hit among users, most people still play GTA V instead of the latest version.

But one problem with many games is that they sometimes don’t work as expected. In this blog post, we are going to take a look at GTA V and see how to solve its stuttering and texture problems in Windows 10.

Most users have reported that GTA V doesn’t work as expected on Windows 10. Some users have also pointed out that the problem doesn’t occur in any other version of Windows. So, those who want to play the game, they should revert back to Windows 7. But before you do that, check if these solutions help you solve the stuttering and lagging problem of GTA V in Windows 10.

GTA V Texture Problem

First of all, go to the Graphics settings and turn all graphics settings to their lowest values.

At the same time, turn off VSync, NVIDIA TXAA, Pause Game On Focus Loss. By turning the game settings to low, you can increase the game speed easily. Plus it will also resolve any hardware stuttering issues.

GTA V FPS Increase

The Frames Per Second (FPS) usually depends on the size of the game screen. In our case, the game window size is 1920px. Reduce this to 1280px so the game works more smoothly. If you are not connecting the game to another server online, this setting will further increase the FPS. it is better to keep a lower resolution. GTA V can easily run on 1280px or 1460px. You can adjust it as per your needs if the game still lags.

Turn Game Mode Off

Windows 10 comes with a built-in game mode. When it is turned on, it signifies that Windows 10 will divert the most power to the game. But sometimes, this can also lead to hurdles in game performance.

Turn it off by typing in Control Game Mode for optimizing your PC for games in Windows 10 search bar. Simply move the slider for Use Game Mode to the left to turn it off.

Turn on High Priority

When running GTA V, turn it to High Priority in the Task Manager. Press Ctrl + Shift + Escape keys simultaneously and look for the GTA.exe entry in the Details tab. Simply right-click it, point to Set priority and choose between Realtime or High.

Change Power Mode to Adaptive

You can also decrease lags in GTA V by changing the power mode. Simply select Adaptive from the Power management mode drop-down menu.

The power mode will allow you to make the most of the game with optimum power and extreme performance.

Another option that has solved the GTA V stuttering problem for many users is the Maximum processor state. You need to keep it at 99% instead of 100%, otherwise, Windows 10 will automatically enable Turbo boost (which is well known to cause stutters in GTA V).

You can change the settings by going to Power Options | Change plan settings | Change advanced power settings.

GTA V Graphics Problem

Is it a graphics problem or a CPU problem? You need to find out if the stuttering occurs because of the CPU or the GPU? To check this: First turn off Turbo Boost from BIOS settings. Go to BIOS and check for the Turbo Boost option. If it is available, simply turn it off.

Allot Dedicated Processor

You can also allot a dedicated processor to the game. Simply launch the GTA.exe file and then open up the Task Manager. You will see the game details. Select Set affinity and select the processor that you would like to dedicate to the game.

What the affinity does is that it will allot a single processor to run the game. This will reduce the number of resources and processes that share the processor. Instead, the processor will dedicatedly run your game.

Last Option… Downgrade to Windows 7

If nothing else works, you can downgrade to Windows 7 – the last known Windows version allowed users a seamless gaming experience without any issues.
