Dragon Ball FighterZ Lags and Freezes

Dragon Ball FighterZ is a successor to the Dragon Ball Xenoverse series. It is a 2D fighting game for computer and gaming consoles and was released this year in January. The game is inspired by many other fighting games including Tekken, and Street Fighter. It especially copies the combos, fighting format, and team fighting gaming mode.

All in all, Dragon Ball FighterZ is a great game and has been praised highly by critics. However, it has a few common problems such as the game lagging problem during the game. In this article, we will focus on how to fix these common issues.

Clean Up System Cache, Optimize the Computer

So, let’s get started.

Dragon Ball FighterZ ‘Disc is unreadable’ error message

During the game, the disc unreadable error message sometimes makes an appearance. There are two ways to solve this issue.

  1. Eject the disc and clean it with a disc lens cleaning spray. Be really careful so that you don’t damage the surface while cleaning the disc.
  2. If this option doesn’t work, or the disc stops working even after the cleanup, then simply take it to a computer shop, where the technicians can solve the issue without any fuss.

Dragon Ball FighterZ freezing on loading screen

If you are using a console and the game is freezing on the game loading screen, simply delete the game’s cache.

Simply hold the PlayStation button on your controller and turn off PS4. Wait for about 30 seconds and now restart it. While the game restarts, keep the L1 and R1 button pressed.

According to Chaos Hour, if the game keeps getting stuck at the loading screen then this may be because of a corrupt saved file. Sadly, there is no way to recover a corrupt file.

So, keep a backup of your saved files at a safe location at all times.

Dragon Ball FighterZ Stuttering

Another issue experienced by many gamers while playing Dragon Ball FighterZ is the stuttering problem. A game usually stutters when it has either a display problem or a storage problem. So, do the following to get rid of the stutters.

  • Reinstall display drivers. If they are already installed, simply update.
  • Decrease the screen resolution of the game and also keep shadow and graphics quality low. This will help with the performance of the game but will also downgrade your viewing experience.
  • Change your display refresh rate by going to display properties and choosing the Screen refresh rate. Make sure that you change the screen refresh rate after you are finished playing so that it doesn’t become a problem. However, we recommend not going for this option unless especially needed.
  • Go to the Task Manager and change the priority of the game’s .exe file to Above normal.

Optimize Dragon Ball FighterZ for Performance

You can increase the performance of Dragon Ball FighterZ game by optimizing graphics settings. If you are using Nvidia graphics card, simply do the following:

  • Go to your graphics card settings 3D settings
  • Turn off Vsync
  • Keep the threaded optimization to on
  • Set the Power management mode to prefer maximum performance

Please note: The above settings are applicable only for Nvidia graphics card. However, if you have an AMD graphics card you can still change the 3D settings to performance optimization in the same way.

If none of these graphics related settings work and the game still lags then you need to upgrade your system. Please check the system specifications (minimum as well as recommended) for Dragon Ball FighterZ here.
