The Manual Process

Manually moving all the files requires multiple steps and in most cases can take a lot of time. You’ll need to download all of your files to your hard drive if they aren’t already synced with your system and then manually upload the files again onto OneDrive. While this may feel like a lot of work, Google does provide users with a more convenient way to migrate their data.

Exporting Data Using Google Takeout

Rather than having to manually move your data, you can use Google Takeout to move your data for you in a single compressed zip file to OneDrive.

To migrate your data from Google Drive to OneDrive, navigate to https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout. On this page move the slider for Drive to the right (turn it on) and do the exact opposite for all others. Select Next at the bottom of the page once you’re done.

On the next page, you’ll be required to choose the compressed data format in which you want your Google Drive data to be moved to OneDrive. You can choose between .zip and .tgz file formats. Opting for either will not affect the files that are being compressed and moved. You can also select the archive size based on how much storage you’ve used in Google Drive ranging from 1GB to 50GB.

After you’ve selected the size and format, you can choose the delivery method for your Google Drive compressed data. Simply select the Add to OneDrive option and it’ll send all your files from Google Drive to OneDrive in a single compressed file.

Export Files without Compressing

To move your files one at a time, you can turn towards many available third-party cloud migration applications and services. MultCloud and CloudFuze are some of the many available cloud transfer services that let you move all your Google Drive data to OneDrive easily in only a few steps. All you have to do is select the source cloud and the destination cloud, and leave the rest to the cloud transfer service.
