Easy File Renamer, that can help you rename tens of thousands of files (and beyond) without any fuss. All it takes to rename them is simply adding them up in the EFR user interface, selecting the right options with a very minimal amount of input, and launching the renaming job!

Today we will be looking at how to remove track numbers from MP3 music tracks with ease. This might seem to be a very daunting task, but you will be surprised at how EFR accomplishes this task with seamless accuracy, and without any trouble.

Easy File Renamer renames files by providing renaming rules such as New Name, Remove Text, Replace Text, Trim Text, Suffix, Prefix, Numbering, Insert At, Lowercase, and Uppercase. As you must have noticed, the most relevant rule for removing track numbers from MP3 files is the Trim Text rule. Remove Text can also prove handy in cases where you need to remove track numbers from song names, depending on the scenario.

The renaming rules to choose from

Once you’ve added all the files in the EFR interface, selected the rules, EFR will show you the preview for new file names so that you can be sure of the end output before you launch the actual renaming.

And yes, Easy File Renamer also renames folders, just in case you were wondering. Once you’ve selected the System Renamer tab, you have to choose between the Files and Folders (to signal which you want to rename).

Easy File Renamer also provides for renaming Google Drive files by accessing your data through the totally secure Google API. The renaming rules being used for Google Drive data will be the exact same as the ones we described a while ago.

You can also edit the tags for MP3 songs on your computer through the Music Fixer tab of EFR. And by the way, you can even edit tags for iTunes songs as well!

Finally, Easy File Renamer also helps in moving as well as copying large amounts of data from one location on your computer to another. This task can also be performed via the File Explorer, but EFR helps you fast track both of these processes to a great extent. You will have to try out EFR to find out how exactly this happens.

Now let’s shed a little more light on removing track numbers from MP3 track names.

STEP 1

Launch the software, and click the Files button. Now click the Add Files button to add up all the MP3 songs for which you want to remove track numbers from.

STEP 2

In the second step, you can select the renaming rule of your choice from the dropdown menu on the extreme left. As described above, the most relevant rules for this case are Trim Text/ Remove Text.

The Trim Text rule lets you specify the length (in characters) by which you want to trim the filename at the beginning of the filename or the end. Once you’re satisfied with the rule being applied with its current settings, click the Add Rule button to add this rule to the queue of the rules (because EFR allows you to apply more than one file renaming jobs in a single go at a single or even multiple files) being applied in this go.

The Trim Text rule

How would you remove numbers which are located in the middle of the MP3 song’s name? That is where the Remove Text case comes handy. Select this rule, enter the number in the Text field, choose between removing the first, last, or all instance of that number and click Add Rule.

STEP 3

Look out for the Item New Name column. This will be showing a preview of the names once the renaming has been performed. If you want to make any changes, click the red cross in front of the relevant rule in the Applied Rules section.

Once you’re satisfied with everything, click the green Rename button in the bottom-right and click Yes in the confirmation prompt.

That’s it. Renaming your most favorite MP3 collection by removing any track numbers located at any position in the filename can be a very simple task, all because of the features packed inside Easy File Renamer.
